Monte-Carlo Golf Club is located just north of Monaco and 900m above sea level. The course is open to the public and you get beneficial rates if you stay at a SBM resort.
HOLE 1
The first hole is a downhill par 4. It offers great views of the mountains and valley when you reach the green. I missed my drive left and had to layup. A opening bogey on the first hole.
HOLE 2
The second hole is back up towards the clubhouse. An uphill par 4 measuring 396 meters. A fairly straightforward forward hole but requires a good couple of shots to get on the green.
HOLE 3
The 3rd hole is a short par 3 behind the clubhouse.
HOLE 4
4th hole is a stunning par 4 with amazing views of the ocean. You stand very elevated on the tee and the hole is only 366m. There is plenty of space so I opted for the driver and had a gap wedge to the green.
VIEW FROM THE 5TH TEE
Great views from the 5th tee at Monte-Carlo Golf Club.
HOLE 5
The 5th hole is a really good par 3. Apart from the nice views it is also a strong hole. It was playing 156m. I hit a 7 iron and found the green. A good par on one of the best holes on the course.
HOLE 6
The 6th hole is a short uphill par 4 with the fairway sloping right to left. There are several different tiers on the fairway. A tee shot favoring the right hand side of the fairway will give you a good approach shot to the green.
HOLE 7
Nice views of the 7th green.
HOLE 9
The 9th hole is a short dogleg par 4. I was tempted to cut the corner with a driver but went with a 4 iron instead. I was happy with the choice after seeing how limited space there is around the corner. My approach shot was good but I did not manage to hole out for a birdie.
BACK NINE AT MONTE-CARLO GOLF CLUB
HOLE 10
The 9th hole is a downhill par 3 towards the clubhouse.
HOLE 11
The 10th is a downhill par 5. My tee shot ended up on the right hand side of the fairway and I had 209 meters to the green. It was playing downhill towards the green. I hit a rescue club onto the fringe of the green and made my first birdie of the day.
HOLE 13
The 13th was is a very short par 4 with a severely sloping fairway. I went for the safe shot and took an 8 iron from the tee. My approach shot ended up in the green side bunker and resulted in a bogey. This is one of the holes that you would play differently the second time around.
HOLE 14
I hit a good 6 iron on the par 14th to setup a really good birdie.
HOLE 18
The finishing hole is an uphill par 5. Above a look from behind the 18th green.
MY EXPERIENCE
Monte-Carlo Golf Club was a nice experience. The course was in excellent shape with fast but receptive greens. The front nine offers some stunning views of the ocean and this is where you sense being at 900m altitude. I played during the month of July and there was very few people on the course. I shot 78 with 2 birdies.
