DRIVING RANGE

The practice facilities at Terre Blanche are really good. They had TopTracer installed since last time I was there and generally they are investing in creating a top class facility. It is one of the best facilities in the South of France.

HOLE 1

The first hole is a par 5 slightly downhill from the tee and dogleg left to right. Longer hitters can probably cut the corner over the tree. I aimed for the bunker on the left and had 221m to the green. My approach shot was good and had a green side chip. Made a par on the opening hole.

HOLE 2

The second hole is a great par 3 uphill with water in the front of the green. There is more space than you think  but still requires a good tee shot to get on the green. I hit a 7 iron and had a good birdie opportunity which I missed.

HOLE 3

The 3rd hole is a dogleg par 4 where you tee off elevated to the fairway. It is a difficult driving hole if you want to leave a short approach shot. If you take the aggressive line across the left hand corner of trees the fairway runs away from you towards the other side and you risk going long into the trees on the other side. A good and challenging hole with a well protected green as well.

HOLE 4

Hole 4 is dogleg par 4 downhill. There is a well placed bunker on the right hand side of the fairway and the green is protected by bunkers and water.

HOLE 5

The 5th hole is a short par 4. The tee shot is over water which doesn’t really come into play. However the landing area for your tee shot is narrow. There is more space on the left hand side than it looks from the tee, but overall a challenging tee shot. Approach to the green is more straightforward.

HOLE 6

Terre Blance Le Chateau 6th hole is one of my favorite on the course. It is par 5 which is reachable in 2 shots. There is plenty of space from the tee but the second shot is all over water to a green with bunkers on the left hand side. You can bail out on the right hand side if you miss the green.

HOLE 8

The 8th hole is a short par 4 playing just over 322m. There is a flat landing area straight ahead from the tee which leaves the best approach shot to the green which is located on the left hand side.

BACK NINE ON TERRA BLANCE LE CHATEAU

HOLE 11

The 11th is another good par 5. It is downhill from the tee. It is reachable in 2 shots if you avoid the bunkers and traps from the tee.

HOLE 13

HOLE 14

The 14th is a par 5 dogleg right. The green is protected with a trap in front and bunker long. Small green and very difficult to stay on the green if approaching with a fairway wood. Best play is to lay up and setup a good short iron to the green.

HOLE 16

Short but still challenging downhill par 3

MY EXPERIENCE

Terre Blanche Le Chateau is a nice golf course. It is a challenging course with variations on the holes. The condition of the course is usually pretty good. It is open all year and the practice facilities are some of the best in South of France.
