Los Angeles Country Club (LACC) is one of the world’s top 100 courses and is located in Los Angeles. It is truly a unique experience to visit LACC and I played both the South and North course. The location in Beverly Hills is something special.

CLUBHOUSE

The clubhouse at Los Angeles Country Club is just stunning. A real masterpiece and statement that fits well to the club.

LOCKER ROOMS

The locker rooms and facilities in are fantastic.

DRIVING RANGE

You take a short buggy ride to the driving range and practice facilities. It was great for me to spend some time on the putting green as the speed was significantly faster than what I normally play.

Hole 1

The first hole is a par 5 measuring 529 meters. It is pretty straight forward and with a good drive you are able to go for the green on the second shot.

I managed to find the fairway and my second shot settled to the right hand side of the green. My chip was good but ran out past the hole a bit further than expected. The greens were running nice and fast. An opening par.

HOLE 2

The second hole is a par 4 and above the approach to the green.

HOLE 3

3rd hole you want to keep your drive towards the left hand side. It is an uphill approach shot. I didn’t manage to keep the tee shot on the fairway and had a tough approach shot. A bogey on the card.

HOLE 4

Los Angeles Country Club hole 4 is a really good par 3. Downhill to a large green. I missed the green on the left hand side and made bogey.

HOLE 6

The 6th hole is a short par 4, but by no means an easy hole. It is a blind downhill tee shot to a dogleg. The hole is playing 292m and long hitters can reach the green from the tee. One of my playing partners manage to drive the green. The ball pitched on the green and bounced into the green side rough leaving a tough chip. The green is narrow and it is also a difficult approach shot when laying up to the left hand side. A really good and challenging hole.

HOLE 8

Hole 8 is a great par 5. It is playing 460m and you need to drive the ball close to the right hand trees to setup an opportunity to approach the green in your second shot. The fairway slopes left to right so the drive can end up in the trap if you are too far right. A challenging tee shot and overall strong hole.

BACK NINE ON LOS ANGELES COUNTRY CLUB

HOLE 10

The 10th hole has a generous fairway that slopes towards the left which is the preferred line from the tee.

HOLE 11 - best par 3 on Los Angeles Country Club

Tee shot hole 11

The 11th is a wonderful Par 3 with spectacular views. It is downhill playing 205m. A good tee shot that carry the front bunkers will mostly bounce up on the green which is the safe shot. Long or left will leave a difficult chip shot.

HOLE 13

The 13th is a tough but good par 4. The fairway is wide and looks pretty straight forward. However anything to the right hand side will feed down a hill and leave a very difficult uphill approach shot to the green. The green is well protected with bunkers so a good drive up the left hand side is definitely an advantage.

HOLE 17

The 17th is a par 4 and one of my favorite holes. You can either hit the tee shot way left and leave an approach from that side or follow the dogleg in a more direct line to the hole. I played it both ways and really depends on where the pin is positioned on the green. On my second round I hit the fairway and had an 8 iron to the green.

HOLE 18

Tee shot hole 18

The 18th is a strong finishing par 4. The first round we played we had fantastic sunset views on the 18th hole as you can see above.

MY EXPERIENCE

Los Angeles Country Club is really an outstanding experience.  Both courses were in immaculate shape and walking around the golf courses in Los Angeles city is very special. Apart from the amazing golf courses one thing that really stood out was the hospitality, service and atmosphere of the club. After our rounds we enjoyed the clubhouse facilities and everybody was very welcoming. I have been to many country clubs around the world but I have to say that LACC is something exceptional. I didn’t play my best golf and shot 86, but still enjoyed it thoroughly.
