Sea Island Plantation course was re-designed by Davis Love in 2019 and after playing the Seaside course I was looking forward to trying this one. Above is the green on the 1st hole. I missed my drive left which was not too bad. I left my approach shot way short and made bogey.

Hole 2

The second hole is par 4 measuring 335m. The green is protected by a bunker in front and the sits slightly raised. I missed my approach shot to the right and did not manage to scramble for par.

HOLE 3

The third hole is a 174m par 3. I hit a decent 4 iron to the right hand side of the green. I was quite far from the pin and I 3 putted for bogey.

HOLE 4 - first par 5 on Sea Island Plantation

The third hole is a 174m par 3. I hit a decent 4 iron to the right hand side of the green. I was quite far from the pin and 3 putted for bogey.

HOLE 5

Sea Island Plantation course hole 5 is a par 4 measuring 408m. My drive missed the fairway left and did not make the green in regulation. Another bogey and a disappointing start to the round.

HOLE 6

Above a nice view back down the 6th hole which is a dogleg par 4. The preference is to hit the left hand side of the fairway to get a good view of the green. I hit a draw from the tee and had a blind shot to the green. Hit a good approach over the trees to make my first par of the day.

HOLE 7, best par 3 at Sea Island Plantation

The 7th is a great par 3. Relatively short but the wind really played a significantly role when I played. The pin was close to the front of the green and I was too aggressive with my tee shot that came up short and I had to take a drop. Managed to get a bogey with a great 3rd shot close to the pin.

HOLE 8, par 5 with water up the right side

Hole 5 is a par 5 with many bunkers on the way to the green that is protected by water up the right hand side.  I hit a good drive, layup and approach shot to setup a par.

BACK NINE ON SEA ISLAND PLANTATION COURSE

HOLE 10

Hole 10 is a short par 4 with well placed bunkers in the middle of the fairway. I hit a long iron from tee to leave a good approach distance. My approach shot spun back off the green but still got a par.

HOLE 11

The 11th is a long par 4 over water with a bunker on the left hand side. I hit a decent 4 iron that reached the front part of the green. I had a long putt and did not make a great effort so had to settle with a bogey.

HOLE 12

The 12th hole at Sea Island Plantation runs back towards the clubhouse. I went for the driver from the tee even though the hole is not that long but I wanted to try and leave a short club to the green.

Really good bunkering in front of the green that is deceptive and makes you careful not to go over the green into the water. I played the hole well and made par.

HOLE 15

The 15th is a short and driveable par 4 for long hitters. I missed my drive right and was left with a blocked shot to the green. Still managed to safe par with a great 3rd shot. I really good par 4 with a small narrow green.

HOLE 18 - great finishing hole at Sea Island Plantation

The 18th hole is a strong finished par 5 with water by the green. It is reachable in 2 shots which I decided to try. I was not comfortable to go straight for the green with my 3 wood and instead aimed a little bit right to be safe. I hit a good approach but did not manage to capatilize with the chip shot afterwards. Still got a nice finishing par.

MY EXPERIENCE

Sea Island Plantation course is a good golf course and it was really well maintained. I played better on the back nine and shot a total of 83 which was not satisfactory.

The course has some good birdie opportunities with reachable par 5s and short par 4s. But it still requires some good approach shots to setup birdie putts which I did not manage when playing Plantation. I prefer the Seaside course, but overall a nice experience and I would play it again.
