The Seaside course is the most well known golf course at the top US golf destination Sea Island in Georgia. I visited during the month of December and the weather was great. It was quite busy at the resort with several tournaments around the courses on Sea Island. I stayed at the resort which is nice and very convenient for a couple of days golf. I started my visit at the Sea Island Performance Center with a lesson from Justin Parsons which you can read more about here. You can also read my experience of playing the Plantation course on Sea Island.

Hole 1

The first hole on Sea Island Seaside is a par 4 measuring 366 meters  and slight dogleg from right to left. Right hand bunkers are in play from the tee.

I hit my driver into the middle of the fairway and a 9 iron to the green. Started the round with a par.

HOLE 2

The second hole is another par 4 measuring 364 meters. Water all the way up the right hand side and a semi island green. I hit a good drive but missed my approach shot long of the green. Luckily I was not in the water, but had to settle with a bogey.

Hole 3

The 3rd is the first par 3 on the course measuring 187m. I hit a really good 7 iron and holed a good putt for a birdie.

HOLE 4

The 4th hole is a great dogleg par 4 measuring 385 meters. It requires a couple of good shots to get on the green. I hit a good drive and a decent approach shot which got caught by the run off area in front of the green. The picture above gives an indication of the green slopes. A really good and challenging hole where I made bogey.

HOLE 5

Hole 5 is another dogleg par 4 with trouble down the right hand side. The green is like many of the others protected by the run off areas for any shots not on target. I played the hole well and made par.

Hole 6

The 6th is the a good looking par 3 measuring 150m. I hit a really good 8 iron that came up just short and caught a bad lie in the bunker. Hit a poor bunker shot and ended up with a double bogey.

HOLE 7, first par 5 on Sea Island Seaside

Hole 7 is the first par 5 on the course and playing 486m. Water and bunker up the right hand side. The green is well protected so a good approach shot is required especially if you try to reach the green in 2 shots.

Hole 8

The 8th is a short par 4 measuring 329m slightly uphill. The green is well protected with bunker and run off areas. I hit a good driver and approach shot to make par.

Hole 9

Hole 9 is a strong par 4 with water running on the right hand side.

BACK NINE AT SEA ISLAND SEASIDE

Hole 10

Above picture of the raised green on the 10th. It gives a good indication of the slopes around the greens at Sea Island. The course puts pressure on your ability to hit solid approach shots and your short game when being off target.

HOLE 11

The 11th is a short par 4 with bunkers along the fairway.  I hit a good wedge shot to setup a nice birdie.

HOLE 12 - a long par 3 at Sea Island Seaside

The 12th is a long par 3. It was playing into the wind and I had to hit 3 wood to reach the green. I hit a good tee shot and I was pleased to take a par on this hole.

HOLE 13

Great views from the 13th green at Sea Island Seaside.

HOLE 16

The 13th is another challenging par 4 with water running up the left hand side of the fairway which is where my tee shot ended up. Above picture of the nice big bunker to protect the green which I also visited on my journey to make a double bogey. A really strong and tough par 4.

HOLE 17

A good view of the par 3 hole 17.

HOLE 18

The finishing hole at Sea Island Seaside is a tough par 4 that requires both a good drive and approach shot. It was playing quite long and I missed the fairway which ruled out my possibility to reach the green. I hit a decent wedge shot for my 3rd but did not hole the putt for par.

MY EXPERIENCE

I thoroughly enjoyed Sea Island, Seaside course. The weather was great and the wind was strong enough to impact the game. The course was in amazing condition and as you can tell from the last picture they were still taking down the spectator stands from hosting the RSM classic. It is a really good challenge and experience. Your short game will certainly be challenged if you miss the greens and requires all your skills to save par. It was a bit of a roller coaster for me with 2 birdies and 3 double bogey. I was happy with my score of 82 and it is definitely a course I will play again one day.
