Ile Aux Cerfs, Mauritius
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Mauritius. This was a great opportunity to play Bernhard Langer’s Ile Aux cerf golf course located on a small island just of Mauritius. Apart from the golf course there is a wonderful beach, water sports and a fantastic restaurant where you sit up in the trees.
The whole experience was fantastic. The boat trip is just a perfect start to the experience. You are picked up on the island and driven to the clubhouse. The clubhouse is very nice and facilities are a like high-end spa and wellness resort. You somehow feel seclude. It was very quite when we visited, and there was generally very few people on the Island.
Ile Aux Cerfs golf course was really good and challenging. I especially remember the long 11th which is a 565m par 5 dogleg that ends up on a green with beautiful views of the ocean. Also the 3rd hole is a great par 3 hole with a large bunker set in front of the green and water both short and long.
Check out The lizard.
You need to be accurate off the tee to shoot a good score. Many holes are tree lined and not particularly wide fairways.
We stayed at the Belle Mare Plage. They were able to book the tee time at a reasonable rate compared to their standard green fee. After golf my wife and I walked a long trip around most the island. It was just fantastic. White sandy beaches and clear blue water. A golf experience that ranks high on my list and one to try again….
