Heritage Golf Club is located on the South coast of the island of Mauritius. It is part of the Heritage resort with several hotels close to the golf course. We stayed in the Heritage Awali which is a nice 5 star resort with a great beach, facilities and service. We also stayed a few days on the Island of Ile Aux Cerf in the Bubble Lodge located on the beach which is an amazing experience. There is also the Ile Aux Cerf Golf course on the Island which is highly recommendable and you can see my experience playing the course here.

Hole 1
The first hole is a par 4 measuring 385 meters from the yellow tees. It is uphill to the green for the approach shot.
I hit my driver from the tee and had a 6 iron to the green. The approach shot ended up on the fringe of the green with a quick downhill putt which I hit too hard. A bogey start to the round.
HOLE 2

The second hole is fairly short par 5 measuring 420 meters. A straight forward hole where I missed my tee shot left and could not reach the green. Played a lay up shot and made par.
HOLE 4

Hole 4 on Heritage Golf Club is a strong par 4 with a blind tee shot and a severe uphill slope to the green for the approach shot. Above picture taken from the back of the green with nice views of the sea. My tee shot was good but I underestimated the wind for the approach shot and came up just short of the green. Another bogey.
HOLE 5

The 5th hole on Heritage Golf Club is a driveable par 4 with the right wind. Obviously the safe option is to lay up but there is not a big risk in trying to go for the green apart from being in the large grass areas below the green on the left hand side which is where I ended up. A short chip to the green and a good par.
HOLE 6

Heritage golf club hole 6 is a good looking par 4 measuring 350m. It is a downhill tee shot to a fairly narrow fairway. I managed to find the fairway and hit a good approach shot to setup a par.
HOLE 7

Hole 7 is a par 5 with water in front of the green. I made another par.
HOLE 8

The 8th hole is a downhill par 3. The wind was strong in from the left and it was playing difficult. I hit 7 iron and missed the green to the right. A bogey added to the scorecard.
HOLE 9

9th hole is one of my favourite holes on the course. A short downhill par 4 playing 270m with water on both sides. I real risk reward hole. It was out of reach for me so I played a 4 iron from the tee to setup a short approach shot. Made par.
BACK NINE ON HERITAGE GOLF CLUB
HOLE 10

The 10th is another short par 4 measuring 330m. It has a blind landing area if you opt for the driver from the tee. My tee shot ended up in the fairway over the right hand bunker and I was left with a short approach shot to above green. A good opening par on the back nine.
HOLE 12

Hole 12th on Heritage Golf Club is short par 4 measuring 305m. It is a relatively narrow fairway from the tee and as you can see the rough is very high and most likely a lost ball if you go in there. I opted for a 4 iron from tee and was left with a 7 iron to the green that is surrounded by hills and bunkers. A really nice looking par 4 from tee to the green. I missed the green on the approach shot and made bogey.
HOLE 13

13th hole is a good looking par 3 protected by water and a bunker. I hit a 8 iron pin high and made par.
HOLE 14

Hole 14th on Heritage Golf Club is a really good par 5. You have to decide how much you want to cut the corner and risk going in the water. My tee shot was too aggressive and ended up in the water. I played the course several times during my stay and the second time I was able to reach the green in two, but the first time I made a bogey.
HOLE 15

The 15th hole is a severe downhill par 3. The wind was strong against on the tee so I played a 8 iron which ended up in the fringe. I made a good par.
HOLE 16

The 16th hole on Heritage Golf Club is a par 4 with a blind tee shot as you can see from above picture. There is more space than what is looks like but you still need a decent tee shot. My tee shot found the fairway and was followed by a GIR to setup a par.
HOLE 18

The 18th hole on Heritage Golf Club is a strong finishing par 5 which I really enjoyed. It is reachable in 2 shots with a good tee shot and if you manage to avoid the water on the left hand side of the green. My tee shot was right over the bunkers but I could not find my ball. I took my penalty and finished with a disappointing bogey.
MY EXPERIENCE
Heritage Golf Club is one of the best courses in Mauritius and I enjoyed playing it. I shot 81 and felt like I played well. The rough is very tall on many of the holes so you need to play well from the tee. The course was in good condition. The wind was a big factor during the round and added to the difficulty. I played the course several times and for a golf holiday destination it is a good location.
