There is no doubt that South Cape is a special place and golf location. Unfortunately I played the course on a day with heavy fog which according to the employees only happens 6-7 times a year. I have been fortunate on many of my golf trips but this time the weather did not accommodate and I did not manage to enjoy the stunning views and spectacular scenery.

SOUTH CAPE CLUBHOUSE

Above pictures of the clubhouse were taken when the weather was at its best during the day. Unfortunately I could not see the water but could definitely get a sense that it is on the edge of water.

THE BUGGY

The buggy and caddie is mandatory when visiting South Cape. Above pictures of the well equipped buggy with all the tools for the golf round and even a first aid kit if that should become necessary. I walked many of the holes just to get the most out of the experience but the service with the caddie & buggy was immaculate.

A FEW PICTURES FROM THE COURSE

FOG LIGHTS

On some of the holes they had fog lights to help you with aiming in the right direction from the tee or towards the green.

VIEWPOINT

Nice place to have a quick break and enjoy the views.

HOLE 6, PAR 3

The 6th hole is a 162m par 3. I could not see the green so it was a blind tee shot with the caddie giving directions of where to aim. Above the result and a fantastic birdie.

VIEW OF THE LOCAL ACCOMODATION

You can book rooms at South Cape and above is a picture of some of them.

HEAVY FOG

Above picture shows the heavy fog and limited visibility. The Caddie put down a aiming rod so I had a chance to get the direction right. They golf course was fully booked so she was communicating with the group in front to ensure it was safe to play.

MY EXPERIENCE

South Cape golf is a special place to visit and play golf. I did of course not quite get experience out of it I wanted due to the weather. I can only imagine what it would be like to play during normal conditions. The property, clubhouse, service and setup is all very well organized and executed. They have thought through a lot of details to ensure the best possible stay at South Cape.

I shot 77 which I was very happy with considering that many shots were blind. The course was in good shape for the time of year and the caddie made all the difference. She was very helpful during my round. South Cape is certainly a place worth visiting for the avid golfers and I would like to come back again to play under better weather conditions.
