Dooks Golf Links is another good Irish course that I played in May 2017. The club is established in 1889 making it one of the oldest in Ireland. It was originally a 9 hole course and what extended to 18 in the 1970’s. We played an early morning and as you can see from the pictures the weather was pretty good.
The opening hole at Dooks golf links is pretty straight forward par 4.
I started well with a good drive and a short pitch to the green to setup a nice opening birdie.
The second hole is a short uphill par 4 that is driveable, however as you can see the green is protected well with run off areas and undulation. If you do not reach the green your approach shot needs to be accurate to stay on the green.

The course is relatively short by modern standards but requires a good short game and accurate approach shots to shoot decent scores. From some of the holes you have beautiful views which was great in the weather we had.
I didn’t play that well and shot 86. Too many missed fairways and greens. The condition of the course was not the best it could play, but I assume that it will improve during the summer months.
