Doonbeg golf course is designed Martin Hawtree. We stayed at the resort which was convenient when playing some the Irish west coast courses. We also played Ballybunion, Waterville, Old Head and Lahinch. The rooms, food and service was good. We used the practice facilities on site and enjoyed what turned out to be some quite nice weather.

We booked the first tee time and was on the tee at 7AM for a round of golf that was going to be better that we anticipated.

My approach to the 18th green

my experience

I was positively surprised by Doonbeg golf course and thought that many of the holes were very well designed and naturally incorporated into the landscape. The condition was not great with extremely slow greens, however overall a nice experience and worth considering when in the area.
I did not play well and shot 87 with a really poor front 9. Didnt manage to find many fairways and too many lost balls.
