Son Gual golf is one of my favourite courses in Mallorca. It is amongst my top 3 golf courses on the Island together with Alcanada and T Country Club. I have played Son Gual golf a few times and last time was in July 2021 during a holiday to Mallorca. We booked an early tee time and there was very few people on the course.

The opening hole is a par 4 downhill fro an elevated tee. There are some well placed bunkers on the left hand side that is in play from the tee and my tee was close to ending up in them. Luckily it ended up in the left hand semi-rough and I made bogey due to a poor approach shot to the green.

The second hole is a short par 4 and I hit a poor drive into the right hand rough.

I hit a very good approach shot to the second green and made birdie.
The 5th hole is very par 3. A short hole but sometimes they can just as tricky. My tee shot was in the back side bunker and I made a poor double bogey.
Hole 6 is a short par 5 and I hit a good tee shot down the left hand side of the fairway. I had a 4 iron for the approach shot which I did not hit that well and was just short of the green. A good approach shot resulted in a birdie.

The 8th hole is a good looking hole from the tee with trees along each side of the fairway. The fairway gets narrower towards the green and its uphill.

The 9th hole is a downhill par 3 with views of the clubhouse. I made a par and was out in 40 shots with 2 birdies, but also a double bogey on the short par 3 5th. I was looking forward to playing the back nine.

Hole 10 is a dogleg right and a bit uphill. We had the wind into on the tee and it was difficult to judge how much you can cut the corner. I went over the right hand side and just cleared the bunkers which left a short approach shot.
The 10th green is narrow and the pin was placed in the right hand corner. My approach shot ended up in the fringe and a back nine opening par was good.
The 11th is a strong par 4 dogleg to the left and downhill from the tee. It requires an accurate tee shot if you try to cut the dogleg as there is water on the right hand side of the fairway. I did not manage to find the fairway and had a tough approach shot to the green with water on the left hand side. Made bogey and it is one of the more difficult par 4s on Son Gual.

14th hole, a good par 4
The 14th hole is a good risk/reward hole. The hole plays uphill and you need to decide whether to play safe up the left hand side or try to carry the bunkers to the fairway on the other side. I played safe and had a short approach shot. You can barely see the flag as its uphill and the green is hidden by the terrain. A good par 4.
The finishing hole is one of my favourite on the course. It is a really good par 5 where you need an accurate tee shot and approach shots to setup a good score.
The experience
Son Gual is a really good course and was in magnificent condition. The facilities and service is great. I will usually also go to Son Gual for hitting range balls as it is some the best facilities in Mallorca. I shot 81 in perfect weather conditions and was pleased with the score. Son Gual should be on your short list if you visit Mallorca and want a game of golf.
