Hole 1
The first hole is a par 4 measuring 371 meters from the regular tees. There is a speed slot with a downhill slope on the fairway which will leave you a good approach shot if you can catch it.
I hit my driver and short iron to the green for an opening par.
HOLE 2
The second hole is another par 4 measuring 386 meters. It is slightly downhill and dogleg right. I played my tee shot over the right hand bunkers to leave the shortest approach shot to the green. A small water stream runs along the green and bunker on the left hand side. I had a short approach shot and made another par.
HOLE 3
The third hole is an uphill par 3 measuring 150 meters. I was on the green but 3 putted for disappointing bogey.
HOLE 6
Sedgefield Country Club hole 6 is a good par 5 playing 380m with a water hazard crossing the fairway. I played a 5 iron from the tee to avoid the water and was in the fairway. Didn’t play the hole well from there and made double bogey after visiting the bunkers as well.
HOLE 7
HOLE 8
The 8th hole is a short par 4 playing 334m. There is water in play from the tee. I hit a driver and short wedge approach shot to setup a par. Good looking hole that definitely can be challenging.
HOLE 9
9th hole on Sedgefield Country Club is a par 4 slight dogleg right with an uphill approach to the green. The hole routes back towards the clubhouse. A good finishing hole to the front nine. I missed the green but managed to save par and was out in 38 shots.
BACK NINE ON SEDGEFIELD COUNTRY CLUB
HOLE 11
The 11th hole is a long par 3 playing 217m. I hit a solid 6 iron onto the green and made par. The green has several tiers which makes it even more challenging.
HOLE 15
Hole 15 is one of my favourite holes on the course. Downhill par 5 with water and bunkers in play. Reachable with a couple of good shots. I was in the left hand rough from the tee but managed to get my approach shot close to the green. Made par.
HOLE 16
Sedgefield Country Club hole 16 is the best par 3 on the course. Only playing 138m but difficult to get it close to the pin with the undulating green. I hit a poor 9 iron into the right bunker and made bogey.
HOLE 18
The finishing hole is a good par 5. I missed my tee shot into the right hand rough but made my only birdie on this hole.
MY EXPERIENCE
Sedgefield Country Club is a good test of golf. The course was in great condition and it has some really memorable holes. I played well and shot 78 with the one birdie on the last hole. The clubhouse and hospitality is really nice. All in all a great experience and definitely worth a visit.
