Silverado Country Club is located in Napa valley in California. It is home to the Safeway Open on the PGA tour and has 2 golf courses. We stayed at the resort during a summer holiday. The resort is nice and has plenty of activites. We played tennis with kids and visited some of the wineries in the area.

I warmed up on the driving range and I really enjoy when it is grass. At home we have few driving ranges with grass as most are with artificial matts.
The golf course

The first hole is a straight forward par 4. I played on my own and there was very few players on the course.

I had a 9 iron approach shot to the 1st green and made an opening par.

The 3rd hole is a dogleg right to left and you have to decide whether to play agressive over the trees and get close to the green. It is a short par 4 and with no real hazards so I opted for the driver and was left with a short pitch to the green. This hole is a real birdie opportunity but I was not able to convert it due to a poor pitch that left me a longish putt.

The 8th hole is a short par 4 uphill dogleg right to left. A bit of tree trouble if you are offline with your drive and a good looking hole.

The back nine at Silverado Country Club

The 10th hole is a par 4 and is where I made my only birdie at Silverado Country Club.

The 11th hole is a short par 3 over water. It was only a pitching wedge, but turned out to be a tricky pin position on a green with undulations.

The pin was on the back part of the green and it is difficult to see the undulation from above picture. I 3 putted for a bogey.

Good looking par 3 hole 15

My experience
Silverado Country Club is a nice resort and golf course. I only played the North course and it was in really good condition which is expected. I enjoyed playing the course and was pleased with my score of 78. It is worth a visit and especially if you are into the whole Napa experience.
