Pine Tree is one of many golf courses in Florida and this one is located close to some of the greatest and most private clubs in Florida.
The course is located within a community, but contrary to many other courses Pine Tree Golf Club is not affiliated with the community. It is a private club and quite exclusive. I was looking forward to visiting the course and having played a lot of golf in Florida I had high expectations.
The driving range was under reconstruction so I used some time to sharpen up my short game. Really nice practice area and perfectly maintained.
the golf course
The course condition at Pine Tree Golf Club was perfect and the course is pretty difficult especially around the greens. Generally the greens are protected by bunkers pretty much all around. The greens are hard and fast, so coming from the rough with little backspin makes it extremely difficult to stay on the green. So in short, stay on the fairway to stay on the greens.
A really well designed par 3 which just shows that they don’t need to be long to be difficult. I was in between clubs and took a the longer club which ended up in the bunker. Made a great sand safe.
Nice finishing hole where I unfortunately never found my ball from the tee so ended up with a double bogey.
My Experience
I shot 79 with a couple of birdies which was a satisfactory score on a difficult course. The condition was perfect and one thing I noticed was the setup of the tee boxes that are all on long rectangular shapes. I quite liked that setup and found it easier to setup for tee shots compared to the tee boxes aiming in different directions to the fairway.
I had a great time on the course and really enjoyed the experiences as it is very different from what I am used to in Europe. Will definitely be back for another game.
